TextMate is fairly popular text editor for Mac OS X. I have a new macbook pro (OSX 10.10) and I installed Aquamacs 3.2 GNU Emacs 24.4.51.2. I work with Aquamacs (emacs on Mac OS X latest version) to compile. One nice thing is that I don't need to learn that many different tools I can use the same text editor for Latex files, programming, etc. There are more integrated environments for editing Latex documents, but I'm happy with a good general-purpose text editor + a good PDF viewer + some scripts.
